Glorious Tech Food
Need to know what is open on campus for some food but can never remember the times?? Here is your new savior. Either download the app free on itunes or simply go to the website. It will let you know what is open now and what is closing now so you can go to the right dinning hall. Just remember! No plastic bags and eat wisely at D2!!

- After a few ‘rounds’ at D2 the pile up can get obnoxious. We are all guilty but trying to cut back on the plates by either re-using or putting more on one plate you can save a lot of water. Less dishes being washed means less water being used.
- Only get what you will actually eat. Food is terribly wasted especially in D2 on campus. Not saying that some people don’t practically lick those plates clean but if you don’t think you are going to eat it…. don’t get it. I know some people complain about the small portions you are usually given at D2 but maybe that is for the better. Smaller portions mean less wasted food. Besides, the D2 stations aren’t going anywhere, if you want more then you can go for another round.
Say nah to Styrofoam! I know its hard but try to take the time to eat at whichever dinning hall you pick to avoid using Styrofoam.
Tech has made some long standing movements against Styrofoam so why not read up on why. Here is an article from the Collegiate Times documenting the Environmental Coalition’s effort to make our dinning halls more environmental friendly. If this article is from 2008 I like to hope we have made some progress.

Also I am happy to say that Virginia Tech is listed as one of the many projects of the Nationwide Foam Recycling (NFR) site. The site states it has recycled over 525 million pounds of foam since 1990, quite the number to brag about. From specifically Virginia Tech they claim that 46,200 lbs. of foam has been recycled! The site goes into their recycling process and it really quite interesting. Check it out.
