The Green Mother Goose: Saving the World One Rhyme at a Time
By: David Davis and Jan Peck
Sure, this may be a kids book, but I absolutely love the idea of it. Revamping a classic like Mother Goose so that the tales become more environmentally friendly is genius to me. I might have to go check this one out!
I found out about it from here: http://www.coolmompicks.com/2011/05/mother_goose_has_gone_green.php
Okay. I know that this is an oldie (and also my favorite movie of all time) but I am reading it for the first time ever and there is a surprising environmental message. Sure most of their actions are driven by respect for Gods creatures, but the lesson remains relevant. The family, even in their time or trouble takes only what they need and respects all living creatures around them. A great one to crack back open.
2010/2011 Virginia Tech Common Read. Never read it myself but heard it was great.
Who could forget this little guy?
I love love love this book!!! When teacher gave it to me it looked so boring and i was honestly worried that I wasnt going to be able to finish it. But it will be on my shelve forever. It displays viewpoints of the environment from different perspectives that really give you something to think about. Really makes you choose which type of conservationist you will be… love it!
